Just discussing with a neighbour - can't believe they still teach them typewritting in a College of Education in Abuja. It seems our education is reversing to the 1970s while the world is in 2015.
Amazingly, the lecturer is exploiting the students by mandating them to buy a typewritter from her; and even doubling the cost.
The situation got more twisted when most typewritters she sold to them are developing faults - so most of the time that's supposed to be used on teaching them are spent on repairing typewritters sold to them - please tell me how will those students learn typing.
In 2015, a typewritter ought to have been in extinction; when windows 10 PC is recently just released and Mavies Beacon and other PC Typing tutors are still available everywhere online and offline.
It's high time we expand our voluntary entrepreneur in residency at investor.ng. This programme is aimed at visiting Nigerian tertiary institutions; partner with them - to bring professionals from various fields to schools to come and lecture their students, accept them for internship, contract employments among others - all this will largely improve the quality of graduates from our schools.
For instance, a successfully Lawyer in our Team can go to school to interact, mentor and train the Law students on what makes him successfully, an entrepreneur among our members can visit the Business Administration Department to train Students on starting a new business, marketing, management, negotiation among others from a real life perspective among other professions.
Over time, we believe such laudable move will influence upgrading our academic curriculumn and will enable our youths compete favourably with their counterparts across the world.
If you are interested in this cause, Nigerian Entrepreneur in Residency or advise us on how we can move this crusade further
God Bless Nigeria.
